Tournaments

The CGRU is seeking 4-5 existing or new tournaments to be on the official Carolina Summer 7s circuit, in which for the first time, teams will collect points throughout the season. At the end of the summer a men’s and women’s team will be crowned champion of the region. It should be considered one step below any premier or qualifier divisions in terms of competitiveness.  It is intended to be a competitive social division. Please complete this form to either submit a bid to host CS7s or simply be added to the regional calendar.

 

Guidelines

• Host both men’s and women’s social divisions. A men’s-only or women’s-only tournament will be considered alongside another complimentary tournament hosting the opposite division

• Offer consolation trophies, in addition to Cup (plate, bowl)

• Provide full final standings. (required)

• Host an official 18+ friendly social (required)

• Provide an Emergency Action Plan (required)

• Sanctioned by USA Rugby (required)

 

For Teams

Carolina Summer 7s aims to increase overall participation throughout the summer by connecting regional tournaments, both old and new, into a circuit with points to win. More trophies during and at the end.

Bonus Points

• +1 for winning a consolation trophy (Plate, Bowl)

• +1 for participating in the official 18+ friendly tournament social. Use #CS7s on FB/IG/etc. to get credit or email 7s@cgru.rugby

• Unofficial/other opportunities for points:

• Finish your tournament off-field, if needed, to get points based on finish. Able to split points evenly between opponents if all agree.

• Being pulled up into a higher division guarantees full CS7s points, which introduces 2 new points to the pool of total points available for that event.

 

Rules on rosters

Players may play for other teams in lower divisions, but cannot move onto other rosters within the same division in any given tournament.
