RX Gender Question
As registration opens in RX for all individuals, you will see that USA Rugby has changed one of the profile questions. The gender question has changed to “Gender at Birth” with only male and female as options. It no longer includes options such as nonbinary or prefer not to answer. It is a mandatory question so everyone will be required to answer. This language was added last year as part of the effort to align with the USOPC Athlete Safety Policy and the applicable Executive Order.
How will it affect our members?
There is some we know, but still much we just don’t know. We know that NCS competitions (MD1/2/3, WD1/2) will be set as non-open competitions. I am looking for clarification on WD3 in particular since that doesn’t lead to a national championship. USA Rugby is working with the Senior Club Council to develop more structure and guidance around how the Open Category is intended to operate in practice.

As a board, we believe in transparency. Over the past week, we have been pushing USAR and the SCC to post a more detailed statement about this change. While that has not happened, we felt it was important to inform our members of the change.
As always, reach out to me with any questions-
