RX - 7s Competitions

COMPETITIONS OVERVIEW

7s competitions are similar to 15s in setup, but are very different in how they are used.  It can be quite complex to use the RX comp for a 7s tournament as updates need to be made quickly (playoff rounds), while RX cannot handle the complexities of weather or other delays.  The primary reason to create a 7s comp is to be able to track players for nationals eligibility.  It can also ensure players/coaches are registered with a USA ID.

CREATE A COMPETITION

In the left menu of your admin portal, scroll down to expand COMPETITION MANAGEMENT, and select Competitions.  To create a new competition, select the Create Competition link at the top of the page.

COMPETITION DETAILS

Once you have saved your initial competition setup, select this one from your list of competitions to begin editing details.  You will start in the Competition Details tab which is all of the info you have already added above.  Continue to the other tabs:

  • Allocated Teams - Find your teams by using the dropdowns.

    • Parent Type will be Geographical Union

      • The Midwest will be under Territorial Union while their components will be under Local Area Unions.

    • Select your union, which will result in your teams to appear below.  Because you named them correctly, it should be easy to uncheck "Select All", and then check the ones for this competition such as all with M7s and/or W7s.

    • If you are adding an out-of-union team, select that GU in the 2nd dropdown.

      • Note that RX will not allow adding teams from college to a club competition.

      • You can add additional teams later as new registrations are added.

    • It is recommended to create a dummy team called "7s Qualifier Match" in your union's at-large club.  We'll explain below.

  • Pools - No entries are needed.

  • Team Lists - Select only the following options:

    • Activate Team Lists

    • Require Coach on Team List

    • Coach - Require Compliance Accreditations

  • Publish - Select only Display team lists publicly

  • Ladders - No entries are needed.

  • Report - This is not a setting, but an option to generate a report which would be emailed to you.

  • Referee - Not currently used; Still in development.

  • Payment - Not currently used; Still in development. â€‹â€‹â€‹

MATCH DETAILS

The purpose of creating the match is simply for that team to be able to add a roster.  In the left menu of your admin portal, scroll down to expand COMPETITION MANAGEMENT, and select Matches.  To create a new competition, select the Create Match link at the top of the page.

  • Competition - Find your 7s competition.

  • Round Type - Regular

  • Round Number - 1

  • Round Name - Qualifier
  • Venue - Select your venue

  • Date& Time - Select your date.  For the time, start at 8am and increase that by 30 min with each match.  This will avoid RX from "blocking" a time frame for that venue

  • Home Team - Add one of your teams

  • Away Team - Add your "7s Qualifier Match" dummy team

  • TBA & BYE check boxes - Leave un-checked

  • Match Name - None needed

  • Notes - None needed â€‹â€‹â€‹

Repeat this process for every team in the competition.  Each should be "playing" against the dummy team.  KO time does not matter and will not be accurate.

TEAM CHECK IN

Prior to match day, teams should be instructed to add up to 13 players plus a certified coach to the roster in RX.

Whomever is conducting check-in should have one of the following:

  1. Union admin access (can be conducted on a laptop), or;

  2. Competition admin access (can be conducted on a mobile device.

  • In addition to checking ID's, ensure that the RX roster shows the player along with the correct jersey number.

  • Once check in is complete for that team, update the match to "Result" to ensure no further changes can be made.

  • The order and position do not matter; all 13 players listed will be considered as having played by Eligibility.

  • While subs and scoring are not tracked in RX, this match can be used to track cards, and will create a comp case for red cards.

  • Eligibility will pull reports for the specific competition to use for eligibility qualification.
