Tournament Date, Location & Facts

July 18 at the Wake Med Soccer Park (101 Soccer Park Dr, Cary, NC 27511).  The tournament is being hosted by the CGRU in conjunction with the inaugural World Rugby Nations Cup.  The 7s tournament will take place during the day on the outer pitches.  Then the USA men's XV will taking on Spain in the stadium at 7:30pm.   7s will include 16 teams (8 men, 8 women) on two pitches.  Each team is guaranteed 4 matches for those reaching the bowl/shield, or 5 for those reaching the cup/plate.  The cost per team is $500.

This is a USA Rugby sanctioned event, and all players must be registered in RX.  All teams must have a compliant coach.  This is a social tournament, and will not be considered a qualifier for the NCS nor the Carolina Summer 7s Series.  The goal is to play rugby, and then walk over to cheer on Team USA.

The tournament will be managed in Rugby Xplorer as an "event".  Registration, tournament fees, scheduling, results, and more will be in RX.  Registration will open on Sunday, May 10.  Instructions on how to register a team to this event in RX.  This doc includes instructions for players registering to a motley team.​

Key dates

• May 10 - Registration opens for interested teams​​

  • May 17 - Interested teams are "accepted" in to the tournament​

• May 20 - Accepted teams complete registration, including a $200 deposit.

  • $300 balance due by Jun 30.​

• June 30 - Team registration deadline (or until quota has filled)

• July 1 - Schedule released in RX.​

• July 17 - Deadline for players to register.

  • Club teams may use players registered to the club​

  • Motley teams will have players register directly to the newly created team

• July 17 - Rosters submitted in RX by noon.
